I have finally left the wordpress platform and decided to transfer to blogger. So here I am hoping to be as loud as I was in my WP blog. LOL

Goodbye Wordpress

Okay, it has been quite a while since I last updated this blog. Though I have previously posted an entry about my blog to blog migration problem and a possible solution to the problem, I have not attempted the process using Python. Due to the pressure that I am experiencing now with my current work, I cannot attend to my internet activities anymore that is why I'm leaving wordpress. However, I will be starting a new blog using blogger, and will be updating there. Farewell WP! I will be back soon. :)

I love the rain it cleanses my wicked soul. :)

I am really sad that until now I still haven't found the perfect solution (or is there ever is a perfect solution) to my wordpress to blogger migration problem. The only option left is by start building this blog and forget about migrating katHaRsis and let it exist as it is. In simpler terms I would be updating both blogs on the basis of the purpose of their existence. Fluxed will officially be my personal blog, while katHaRsis will be my public blog.

Possible Solution to my Blog2Blog Migration Problem

I am still stuck on the blog migration problem. And while I was googleing, I found this, quite complicated but I will still try, and see what I can accomplish after. I will be blogging the result of my experimentation later on.

These are what I need:

1. Download the script wptoblogger.py.


2. Ensure you have Python 2.5, BeautifulSoup and Google's GData Python Client.


3. Create your target Blogger blog and note its ID.


4. Export your Wordpress blog to an XML file (I think this is only available in version 2 and above of Wordpress).


5. Run wptoblogger:python wptoblogger.py -u your_blogger_username -b your_blog_id -a author_for_posts wordpress_xml_file

Like what I have blogged previously, there is a limitation to every blog to blog transfer, and among them which I quoted from codesimple are:

1. It doesn't support multiple blog authors - all posts will be marked with the author_for_posts.


2. A limitation with the Blogger API means that comment authors can't be set (they always appear as the blog author). As a workaround, I prefix each comment with a "Comment from..." line (see the existing comments on this blog).


3. Blogger impose a limit on the number of posts you can create via the API in a certain time period. So if you have a lot of posts to transfer you may need to modify the script to post them in batches over a number of days.

Problem Unsolved

Previously I have been blogging about my blog import problems and I have been trying to condition my self to be patient and find a way somehow. After having proclaimed how Blog2Blog migration turned me down on many occasions, it also worked on one instant which made me really ecstatic! However, it only imported 50 items out of 113 entries I have in this wp blog. Since I still considered it a unsuccessful import, I deleted all my blogger imported entries, and tried again. Unfortunately, I was back to the same blog import problem, and it was disappointing and frustrating at the same time.

And earlier I googled further on Wordpress to Blogger migration and found this but offered no hope for me. However, I already tried these steps many times in the past, regardless of my awareness that Non-Blogger to Blogger platform import will not work or will not result in a successful blog import.

Blogger doesn't yet give you the opportunity to Import other Blogs from NON-BLOGGER platforms. It only gives you the ability to Import other Blogger Blogs! It's another fine example of Blogger not being ready to launch a 'full-scale' option. It's in 'Beta', if you will. It's testing.

I am not blaming Google because I understand how they support only their own platforms. On the other hand, I want to rant at them about this problem, which they should have taken into consideration with due respect to those who are on the same situation as I am.

I don't know about this, but this is just wicked. My chairperson of the bored page reached 15,181 hits within four months. This blog, on the other hand has lower hits.

No Escape

No matter how much I avoid the fact that I am a Psychology graduate, I can never ran away from that, and in no matter how many courses I will enroll in, I will always be a Psych major. After long days of queries if I did really chose the right course, I found my self teaching Psychology. And wherever I go, there's always psych on my sight.

Brainsick

After having been bombarded with questions about when would I be getting a job, now I have been bombarded yet again with another squeezing question like when am I gonna start answering my one thousand five hundred twenty five item Foundation of Education final examination. And that's just one subject among my six subjects in my Diploma in Professional Education fast track graduate curriculum.

Truth is, I have no plans yet in answering them, and definitely not now that I am reviewing for my Civil Service Commission licensure examination on July, which is already a few days from now.

I'm actually waiting for my friend to lend me his review booklet as he promised for the said licensure examination. As of now, I'm using my available references, and some other internet sources since I have an internet access.

But honetly, I'm just brainsick with all these examinations I have to take, and they're all for profession purposes, and because the law says so. blah..

Officially an Educator

From being a bum for quite a while,  now I am officially an educator in the field of the Social Sciences. I am happy and grateful of the opportunities that has came my way. Never have I thought that I could be a teacher in the future. Perhaps everyday is really a miracle.

What Conspired My Friday

My friday morning started with a talk on community extension work, and the extension works done by Cebu State College of Science and Technology for the past few years since the previous SUC President mandated the inclusion of extension in the functions of the college.

After a few hours we ended the assembly and proceeded to the CAS department to check my present teaching load. Unfortunately, our chairman was unable to finish posting our loads, so my colleague  and I decided to visit our alma matter, the University of San Carlos.

When I was on the stairs, and on my way to the Psychology Department of the University of San Carlos, someone called me out, “Hi Miss!” When I turned around, it was my crush, who is at the same time one of my favorite teachers in the Psychology Department, Dr. Fredrick Boholst. And I was kind of “Hi sir, wa ko kabantai nimu” ("Hi sir, I didn't notice you" ). He smiled and went. Agoi! He made my day.  :)

Anyways, the purpose of my visit was to check what courses they offer for a Masters' degree, because I was thinking about pursuing my masters' degree while I am studying my Diploma in Professional Education, and at the same time teaching part time in Cebu State College of Science and Technology, which will soon be Cebu Technological University. However, my mother advised me to pursue my plan the next year because it would be a pressure on my part to be studying two courses at the same time. And on July, I will be taking my Civil Service Commission Board Examination for a government employee licensure.

When I came back to college, we had a research assembly. It was a very interesting talk since I love research, inspired by few of my previous research teachers and thesis consultants during my baccalaureate degree. Then there was a debate as to whether which is the best and most reliable research source, it is textbooks or journal articles. And there was also a question if a research title could be written in interrogative form, and if there is an existing published journal with an interrogative title.

And that's what conspired my day today.

Tomorrow is another day, and It's school day.

06.02.09 Nonsense

I just updated my Firefox bookmarks toolbar by showing only the icons of my social networks and services. See it's cleaner, simpler, and better; not anymore an obstruction to my eyesight.

And oh in my desires to become a teacher, I have been officially employed as a part time Psychology professor in the same College where I am recently taking my DPE classes.

I just wonder how my DPE classmates would react if they realize that I'm about to teach  in the same College where they are studying how to become a teacher, just as I am.

Oh well, power of connections work very well.
