Tweet Via Tweetitow (Twitter Mobile Philippines)

Aside from what I have previously blogged, I just found out a new way of updating my tweets via text, with the use of gateway numbers, you may easily tweet even without using 3G or using the web. Thanks to @owrange for making this possible.

Well, now that you are reading this I am assuming that you already have a twitter account, otherwise you won't even bother opening this blogsite.

Start by registering via text. Type REG followed by your twitter user name and your password, and send to the following gateway numbers:

For GLOBE subscribers: 09273389183

For SMART subscribers: 0928-102-0579

For SUN CELLULAR subscribers: 0923-986-0673

As soon as you receive a message from @tweetitow to your twitter account, you may start tweeting. Tweetitow is free of service, however, your networking provider charges for the text that you send to the gateway numbers. Just a piece of advice, If you want unlimited tweets, then you register for your network's Unlimited text service.

Wittiest Tweets

Ever wonder how awesome it is to have a book about Twitter's wittiest messages and updates? Well I think its great for a Twitter user like me to have a copy. Harper Collins is publishing a book, which will hit your favorite book shops on October 6, 2009. The book is entitled Twitter Wit compiled and edited by a freelance author in San Francisco and Twitter user Nick Douglas. Just a month after announcing a restructuring that led to layoffs and the shuttering of an entire division, HarperCollins Publishers hopes to jazz up its book lists by opening a new imprint.

Twitter Announces No Reality TV Show

The fast growing micro-blogging social network  Twitter is said to have announced its team up with Reveille Productions and Brillstein Entertainment Partners to develop a TV show that will transform the way people communicate as Howard T. Owen, Managing Director of Reveille said in his statement on Monday, May 25, 2009.

Previous blogs reported that Novelist and screen writer Amy Ephron made the concept of the said reality TV series, and is founded by NBC Entertainment executive Ben Silverman. Among the said Executive Producers of the show are Mark Koops and Howard T. Owens of Reveille,  Jon Liebman and Lee Kernis of Brillstein and Kevin Foxe and Steve Latham.

However, Twitter's Biz Stone made it clear that there is no official TV show, but the creators of  Twitter are open to possibilities, and that they are not limiting Twitter only to the cyber world.

Twitter’s Biz Stone has confirmed that Twitter has signed a contract with production company Reveille and Brillstein for a TV show, but emphasizes that this is not an “official” Twitter show - it’s a non-exclusive contract, and multiple companies are currently working on TV projects related to Twitter. Yesterday I blogged about Twitter Wit, which is book compilation of the wittiest wits in Twitter, edited by a freelance author from San Francisco. Read Entry Here.

And now, I have discovered yet another Twitter e-book entitled The Reason Your Church Must Twitter, which was released in January 2009, authored by church technology evangelist Anthony Coppedge.

If you’re a pastor, student minister, or involved with some type of ministry, your first reaction to such a resource title is probably something along the lines of “Awesome, I need to read this”.  Others who don’t follow the “faith” probably see such a book as one more tool to promote evangelism through a social network.  I understand both possible reactions, but what’s unique about this book is though it was written “for” churches, it’s not your typical “church” resource.  This book would easily serve as a  tool for any individual or business who would like to know more about Twitter and learn how to get started.

Leadership is important to Anthony.  I don’t know that personally, but it’s clear within the book how much he values good and effective leadership, as well as the role of the church pastor.  The book devotes an entire chapter to pastors and leaders and explains how effective Twitter could make them with not only their congregation, but with their staff and volunteers.

I've Got New Email!

Tired of shallow Twitter emails saying "BlahBlah is now following you on Twitter."? If so, Twitmailer is the answer to the problem. Twitmailer is a Twitter email notification that has a  "Follow Back" option within the email message. It dispays the follower's profile picture, recent tweets and website right from the email.

Twimailer is a middle man that intercepts the emails you receive from twitter and spruces it up before sending it to you!

The traditional email from twitter would only tell you whether you follow the person or not. But twimailer has a host of features. You can immediately follow back the people who have become your fans. You get to see the number of followers and friends your new follower has as well as their complete bio. Updates from the follower are also displayed.

For twimailer to be able to send you mail, you need to first enter the email that you have specified for your twitter account. After verification, twimailer would send you a new email that you need to set as your email id at twitter.

Whack Tweeple Who Don't Reciprocate

Unfollowing tweeps not following you is really wicked and a rude thing to do, but if you are looking for a client that has its features then Twiiter Karma is just the right Twitter app for you.

Twiiter Karma is a Flash application that fetches your friends and followers from Twitter when you click the “Whack!” button, then displays them for you, letting you quickly paginate through them. By default, the list contains all your friends and followers and is sorted by last update, showing those who most recently updated first. You can sort the list alphabetically either ascending or descending by Twitter ID. You can filter the list in several ways: only friends or only followers, all friends or all followers, and mutual friends.

Analyze Your Tweets With Twitual And Friend Or Follow

Twitual is a Twitter app that helps you analyze tweeps who follow you,  tweeps followed by you, tweeps who are both friends and followers of you, tweeps who follow, but you don't follow back, and tweeps who you follow, but who don't follow back. Just enter your Twitter username (password not required), and let Twitual analyze.

However, there's a downside to this since Twitual does not let you unfollow Twitter users who doesn't follow your tweets but Twitter Karma does.

Friend Or Follow is similar to Twitual that it lets you view who are your followers in Fans category, tweeps who you are not following you back in Following category and, tweeps who are following you back in Friends category. And you can see all these tweeps' profile pictures. It does not require a password for your username. Just like Twitual,  Friend Or Follow does not let you unfollow tweeps who are not following you or follow those who you are not following but are following you.

Analyze Your Tweets With Twitter Effect

Twitter Effect is a Twitter tool that lets you analyze which tweets made you gain followers and which tweets made you lose followers.  Just visit Twitter Effect website and log in your Twitter username (password is not required). Through  your last 200 updates, you can get information of your follower count changes.

Twitter is a great way to keep in contact, distribute news and generally tell people what you are up to. The success of Twitter users is generally measured in the amount of people that follow your updates.

You get information on your Twitter profile as to how many people follow you and you get notified when someone follows you. However, there is no notification when someone stops following you and you generally don’t have any insight into when people follow or leave you.

This is where the TweetEffect comes in - simply enter your twitter name and we analyze your 200 latest updates and flag those up that made people follow or leave you.

In my last 200 updates, I had no changes in my follower numbers. I've got loyal followers. That's great news!

Can't Exceed 140 Characters For Your Tweets?

Can't exceed 140 characters for your Twitter updates? when sometimes there's more to say than 140 characters.

Problem solved!

Twerbose lets you post, comment tweets with longer characters, and insert images and videos in your tweets, now that is really cool.

XLTweet comes from the creator of TwitWall, also extends your twitter character capability to beyond 140 characters. XLTweet will tweet the first 120 characterss, create a bit.ly short url similar to Twitter's tiny url, then save the rest on your own XLTweet page. Also, XLTweet automatically adds your XLTweet generated tweets to your favorites just in case you forgot XLTweet link.

BiggerTwitter is an addon rather a Twitter clone that lets you post massive tweets and is posted directly to your Twitter profile.

TwitLonger is created by a freelance developer Stuart Gibson. TwitLonger longers your tweets beyond 140. TwitLonger automatically tweets your updates to your Twitter profile. However, there is a google adsense at the bottom of the tweets generated by TwitLonger.

Though these Twitter extensions deviates to the idea of micro-blogging, they are still great extensions for twittering beyond 140 characters, especially when sharing links that do not fit the limited number of characters.

Turning Twitter Into A Feed (Tweet) Reader

If Google Reader is capable of marking Read and Unread to your subscribed feeds, a new Twitter client called TwitteReader is also capable of marking Read and Unread to your friend's Twitter updates. You may also star items that are added to your favorite tweets.

TwitteReader is simple unlike Google Reader, which has advanced features such a sidebar containing your favorite blogsites, and on the main window are the entries from these websites. Google Reader is capable of item sharing such as this one (my  shared items). However, TwitteReader also  has great features, like:

1. Offline marking and unmarking read messages


2. Page system


3. Shortcut keys r-refresh, k-up and j-down


4. No signup required


5. Update Twitter (send messages) and reply to users


6. Delete updates


7. Favorite and unfavorite messages


8. Message parser

Facebook Is Updating To A Platform Similar To Twitter's

Twitter as we all know has become a fast growing micro-blogging social network that even Facebook is making their own platform similar to Twitter's after a failed bid.

Twitter Inc. is at a critical juncture now that the popular Facebook Inc. has redesigned its services to, well, be a lot more like Twitter, according to analysts.

Facebook announced late yesterday that its public profiles have been updated to allow users to share their information with an unlimited number of friends. The updates, according to Facebook, can "be brief messages" similar to Tweets or longer ones that include photos and videos. The new Facebook setup will also enable businesses, organizations or even celebrities to blast out information to customers, members or fans. Read More

But I don't really find the reason why Facebook has to compete with Twitter because both are different and are similar in ways. Well, its not a question of competition, its to attract users and make online social networking better. Both are status updaters, wherein members get to update their status as often as they can. Generally, I have nothing against Facebook designing a new homepage, however I enjoy Facebook because of its originality in fetaures and this new Twitter-like homapage project omits this value of originality. Regardless of my biases, this new homepage will allow users to filter their feeds, and thus making life easier for that matter! A thumbs up for Facebook.

Be Careful! Virus Could Be On Twitter!

Virus Alert! friends, just be careful about spam messages from twitter users you are following or who are following you because you might not know they could be hacked accounts.

Twitter virus is being spread by a direct message talking about some kind of “funny blog about you” or “Hey, I found a website with your pic on it… LOL check it out here http:// twitterblogaccesslogins. com/login”.  This message seems to be coming from multiple hacked accounts.  Read More.

I have encountered the same spam messages from my Friendster and Multiply accounts, and I heard there is also a similar virus attack in Facebook on December 2008. Read Here. Glad I wasn't a Facebook user until 2009.

TwitStat Shows Top 21 Popular Twitter Clients

I use Twitter for personal use, and for future professional use. Aside from Twitter as my catharsis, I get to share to others my interests through the Tinyurl, share pictures in Twitpic and even share music in Twiturm.  Just like  Facebook, I can also update my status  or post in what I am doing. The conversations I get to have with few twitter users feed my thirst because these social conversations online are basically different in the real world. What I get to share online are interest I cannot extensively share with others in the real world due to creative differences.

Aside from Twitter, I use Twitter clients like TwitterFox for my Mozilla Firefox browser, Twitter Google Gadget for my Google Desktop and FriendFeed to share my blog feeds and other feeds for Facebook, Goodreads, Delicious, Twitter, Last.Fm and so on, since Twitter for mobile devices is not yet available here in the Philippines.
