im officially google waving..

i am an afternoon person because my ciradian rythym (biological clock for sleeping and waking) is set from 10:00 am through 1:00 pm. when i say afternoon person, i refer to a person whose activities start in the afternoon. also i sleep late usually from 11:00 pm because of the same reason.

earlier was a miracle because i woke up so early. and then the first thing i did was to check our love birds. we have five cute little love birds and one of them is pregnant (i guess) that why i am constantly checking on them from time to time. going back, yes i woke up early and then checked my email and i was so stimulated when i saw my invitation from rose buenconsejo (@owrange).

and here's my first wave..weeeee

now i am definitely a google wonk! thank you for not abandoning me google. you are a god!!! haha

my farewell to wp

I have finally left the wordpress platform and decided to transfer to blogger. So here I am hoping to be as loud as I was in my WP blog. LOL

my first entry

I love the rain it cleanses my wicked soul. :)

I am really sad that until now I still haven't found the perfect solution (or is there ever is a perfect solution) to my wordpress to blogger migration problem. The only option left is by start building this blog and forget about migrating katHaRsis and let it exist as it is. In simpler terms I would be updating both blogs on the basis of the purpose of their existence. Fluxed will officially be my personal blog, while katHaRsis will be my public blog.

Problem solved!

I was about to shorten a url that's why I clicked on the site just to realize that my favorite owl is on vacation.. LOL

Possible Solution to my Blog2Blog Migration Problem

I am still stuck on the blog migration problem. And while I was googleing, I found this, quite complicated but I will still try, and see what I can accomplish after. I will be blogging the result of my experimentation later on.

These are what I need:

  1. Download the script wptoblogger.py.

  2. Ensure you have Python 2.5, BeautifulSoup and Google's GData Python Client.

  3. Create your target Blogger blog and note its ID.

  4. Export your Wordpress blog to an XML file (I think this is only available in version 2 and above of Wordpress).

  5. Run wptoblogger:python wptoblogger.py -u your_blogger_username -b your_blog_id -a author_for_posts wordpress_xml_file

Like what I have blogged previously, there is a limitation to every blog to blog transfer, and among them which I quoted from codesimple are:

  1. It doesn't support multiple blog authors - all posts will be marked with the author_for_posts.

  2. A limitation with the Blogger API means that comment authors can't be set (they always appear as the blog author). As a workaround, I prefix each comment with a "Comment from..." line (see the existing comments on this blog).

  3. Blogger impose a limit on the number of posts you can create via the API in a certain time period. So if you have a lot of posts to transfer you may need to modify the script to post them in batches over a number of days.

Problem Unsolved

Previously I have been blogging about my blog import problems and I have been trying to condition my self to be patient and find a way somehow. After having proclaimed how Blog2Blog migration turned me down on many occasions, it also worked on one instant which made me really ecstatic! However, it only imported 50 items out of 113 entries I have in this wp blog. Since I still considered it a unsuccessful import, I deleted all my blogger imported entries, and tried again. Unfortunately, I was back to the same blog import problem, and it was disappointing and frustrating at the same time.

And earlier I googled further on Wordpress to Blogger migration and found this but offered no hope for me. However, I already tried these steps many times in the past, regardless of my awareness that Non-Blogger to Blogger platform import will not work or will not result in a successful blog import.

Blogger doesn't yet give you the opportunity to Import other Blogs from NON-BLOGGER platforms. It only gives you the ability to Import other Blogger Blogs! It's another fine example of Blogger not being ready to launch a 'full-scale' option. It's in 'Beta', if you will. It's testing.

I am not blaming Google because I understand how they support only their own platforms. On the other hand, I want to rant at them about this problem, which they should have taken into consideration with due respect to those who are on the same situation as I am.

Wittiest Tweets

Ever wonder how awesome it is to have a book about Twitter's wittiest messages and updates? Well I think its great for a Twitter user like me to have a copy. Harper Collins is publishing a book, which will hit your favorite book shops on October 6, 2009. The book is entitled Twitter Wit compiled and edited by a freelance author in San Francisco and Twitter user Nick Douglas. Though Twitter Wit is not affiliated with Twitter Inc., a Twitter co creator Biz Stone is also helping for the book.

Just a month after announcing a restructuring that led to layoffs and the shuttering of an entire division, HarperCollins Publishers hopes to jazz up its book lists by opening a new imprint.

This fall the company will publish 21 new hardcover and paperback original titles under the It Books imprint, focusing on pop culture, sports, style and content derived from the Internet, like a planned collection of Twitter posts called "Twitter Wit."

The imprint will be led by Carrie Kania, who is currently publisher of Harper Collins's paperback unit, Harper Perennial. Read More.

If you want to contribute and sumbmit your wits, just visit Twitter Wit, or follow @twitticisms, and sign in. Read FAQ.

Pre-Order this book at Target worth $10.19.

Nothing Is Ever Easier

The other day I have been ranting about not finding the way to do blog to blog migration and then found it.

After having proclaimed over Facebook that never will I think about blog exporting again. Regardless of the changes I have made in this wp blog, I don't think I will ever be satisfied until I find a way to have my wp xml exported to Tumblr or Blogger. Unfortunately, this offered me no hope for Tumblr.

The answer is a resounding NO. For one big reason - I cannot migrate my content to Tumblr.

And this is really disappointing.

Wordpress has done me great, and I am really happy with it. but I have one problem, it has so many features I think I am so finding them complicating my already complicated life. Tumblr on the other hand is, to be honestly speaking, not so advanced as wp and other blog hosts, but has a simple interface. And I am loving the simplicity and easiness of it. I do have my tumblelog, but I wanna export my blogs too.

Then I tried blog2blog migration tool to transfer my wp posts to Blogger, but all I get is "Connection to BloggerDesest Failed." and it's even frustrating than not having found a way to all these.2

I tried Blogger Import tool too, however It only works for Blogger to Blogger transfer, and it's twice the frustration.

Meanwhile, milling about at the back of my head are thoughts I cannot deny. One is why do I have to complicate my life when I have all I need in Wordpress. Secondly, there is always an option to omit all my widgets and use a simplier theme. And lastly, nothing is ever easier in this world.

I am such a douchebag.

Moving from Blog To Blog

Lately I have been wondering about exporting this wordpress blog to another host like Tumblr or Blogger. Snipplr made the best solution I could find in the internet. Unfortunately Tumblr API did not work for me as expected.

On the other hand, I found out possibly easier ways to export wordpress blog to blogger/blogpost. This blog offers  applications for blog to blog transfer. Now I am about to try installing any of the following suggestions and see how it goes.

However, there are  downsides upon successful blog to blog transfer. Quoted below are among them:

  1. Only 50 posts can be imported in 24 hours

  2. Tags and categories cannot be imported

  3. Comments are lost; and in cases where comments can be imported the commentator is displayed as the person who imported the posts

  4. Blogs after getting imported will not display original Multiple Authors, it will only display single name

  5. You will lose your pagerank

  6. You will have to start everything else all over again

Internet rant

Okay, yesterday I called globe to help me with my problem on my Internet. I did exactly what the technical service/support representative told me to do, but unfortunately the problem is not with my Internet connection, possibly it’s with globe’s facilities here in our area.

I’m not sure though if I’m the only one with this problem, since I cannot ask my neighbors about their Internet. It’s just that I don’t have friends here. Well. I do but only a few people, just a few. The rest are strangers to me, although I see them everyday, memorize the details of their faces and everything like that. We just don’t converse in a deep level, only in superficial level or what we call the cliché conversation like “Hi” or “Hello.”

So what I have to do is just wait within 24-48 hours. Oh God

The Internet has been a part of my homeostasis for long time now. Every time I wake up I open my pc right away and google my way to blogs and news for the day, update my social networks like Facebook and Twitter. And just as before I go to sleep in the evening I am still googling. And now it’s just different because there is no Internet. It’s just not the same without it.

Can Social Networking Sites Raise Risk Of Health Problems?

When I read an article from PsyBlog, a particular link caught my attention, I was furious, and that link (Read Here) caught me off guard since I am an avid fan and user of Facebook and other Social Networks such as Friendster, Twitter, MySpace and more. Continuous use of these social networks is said to increase risk of health problems, but the question is how?

How?

  • Social networking sites such as Facebook could raise your risk of serious health problems by reducing levels of face-to-face contact, a doctor claims.

  • Emailing people rather than meeting up with them may have wide-ranging biological effects, said psychologist Dr Aric Sigman.

  • Increased isolation could alter the way genes work and upset immune responses, hormone levels and the function of arteries. It could also impair mental performance.

  • This could increase the risk of problems as serious as cancer, strokes, heart disease and dementia, Dr Sigman says in Biologist, the journal of the Institute of Biology.

  • Social networking sites such as MySpace and Facebook allow people to keep in touch with friends over the web.

  • But even though they are designed to bring people together, Dr Sigman said they were actually playing a significant role in people becoming more isolated.

  • Interacting 'in person' had effects on the body not seen when writing emails, Dr Sigman claimed. Levels of hormones such as the 'cuddle chemical' oxytocin, which promotes bonding, altered according to whether people were in close contact or not.

  • Some genes, including ones involved with the immune system and responses to stress, acted differently according to how much social interaction a person had with others.

Loneliness?

In Sigman's paper (PDF) he defined loneliness as:
being cited as causing low-grade peripheral inflammation which, in turn, is linked to inflammatory diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease,
and autoimmune disorders (e.g. rheumatoid arthritis, lupus).

Lack of social connection or loneliness is also associated with increased risk of
cardiovascular disease. The neuropeptide oxytocin is increasingly considered the
‘hormone of affiliation’, released in plasma and cerebrospinal fluid in response to everyday aspects of human interaction such as somatosensory stimulation, hugging, touch, warm temperature – and it is also involved in feelings of trust and generosity.

So my piece of advice guys is to connect with people on face-to-face bases than just be well connected over the internet, as we all know internet use have psychological downsides, than just day-to-day benefits.

The Reason Your Church Must Twitter

Yesterday I blogged about Twitter Wit, which is book compilation of the wittiest wits in Twitter, edited by a freelance author from San Francisco. Read Entry Here.

And now, I have discovered yet another Twitter e-book entitled The Reason Your Church Must Twitter, which was released in January 2009, authored by church technology evangelist Anthony Coppedge.

Twitter For Churches

If you’re a pastor, student minister, or involved with some type of ministry, your first reaction to such a resource title is probably something along the lines of “Awesome, I need to read this”.  Others who don’t follow the “faith” probably see such a book as one more tool to promote evangelism through a social network.  I understand both possible reactions, but what’s unique about this book is though it was written “for” churches, it’s not your typical “church” resource.  This book would easily serve as a  tool for any individual or business who would like to know more about Twitter and learn how to get started.

I honestly haven't read the e-book but let me quote  from previous review. Read More.

Leadership is important to Anthony.  I don’t know that personally, but it’s clear within the book how much he values good and effective leadership, as well as the role of the church pastor.  The book devotes an entire chapter to pastors and leaders and explains how effective Twitter could make them with not only their congregation, but with their staff and volunteers.
